The Townshend Historical Society’s mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, present, and share the story of Townshend, Vermont, through its research collection, exhibitions, programs, and publications for the purposes of education, entertainment and community spirit.
Former summer resident, John Kenneth Galbraith tells us that history “deals most extensively with the large and the violent and… passes by the small, intelligent, and gently civilized.” Our web site celebrates community life in a small town through our extensive photo collection, exhibits, newsletters, virtual and real tours. Our research begins in 1753 the date of the charter for the Town of Townshend.
THS is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization and all gifts are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
